~*~ Chiang Kia-shek ~*~

He was born on October 31, 1887 and died on April 5, 1975.

He was an influential member of the Kuomintang and later became the commandant of the Kuomintang's Whampoa Military Academy in 1925.

In 1928, Chiang led the Northern Expedition to unify China, and became the leader of the country.

Chiang was the chairman of the National Military Council of the Nationalist Government of the Republic of China from 1928 to 1948. In 1945 the Nationalists fought in a long standing war with the Chinese Communist Party and were defeated.

Chiang retreated to Taiwan and ruled there until his death on April 5, 1975.
